A friend of mine owns a farm and has successfully developed 3 of his barns under class Q permitted development. The 3 dwelling total approx 450m2 which is the max allowance at present. There is some speculation that this 450m2 may be increased in the future to 750m2 but who know’s if and when.
My friend has another barn which he has said he will offer to me however as stated he has used up his 450m2 allowance.
My question to the forum is if I purchase the barn and some land can I then in apply to change the use of the barn to residential under the class Q permitted development ? As this will no longer be his property in theory this plot will not have exceeded it’s 450m2 limit.
