Extended permitted development rights were previously extended by three years to May 2019.  Does anyone know if they are likely to be extended again past this date?

These rights allow extensions up to 8 metres (from 4 metres) for a detached house, and 6 metres (from 3 metres) for all other houses.

No daes have been given as yet, and its becoming very frustrating for agents trying to give customers the best advice. The planning portal have updated there guidance notes with this rider and I quote:
‘It has been stated by the government that these increased size limits are to be made permanent, but no detailed information has been provided in regard as to how and when this will happen’
I would also like to know what happens if a customer who has just received permission to build his extension under PD rights and cannot complete the build by the May deadline. It would be surely more consistent to just put a 3 year time limit on such applications as you would get with the normal planning process?

The regs state:

(13) The development must be completed on or before 30th May 2019.

Sorry, probably not what you want to hear!

We are waiting impatiently.

If you would like to know more about it see (page 20) of  the “Planning Reform: Supporting the high street and increasing the delivery of new homes”
