My daughter owns a flat in a converted terraces house in Brixton (Lambeth BC). The opportunity has arisen to purchase the other flat and our intention would be to reinstate the building as a single dwelling. Can anyone tell us what planning we should be applying for? Change of use? Has anyone had actual experience of trying to do this in Lambeth? Do the council have any objections or criteria? They would be only getting one source of council tax instead of two.
Reverting the building to a single dwelling would be a fairly simple matter of removing a couple of internal stud partitions and doors. Subsequently we would want to refurbish the whole building and consider the construction of a side return and / or loft conversion.
